35 Days and Counting!

Thirty-five days from today we will be on our way to Cairo, Insha'Allah. I packed my first box today and it weighs 40 lbs. The box consists of a quilt I made for Mira, and my milkglass collection from my mom. It will definitely be worth the price we pay for weight.

I have my clothes packed. I may even leave some of the clothes behind because I'm going on what I "might" wear and not what I actually "will" wear. I prefer Egyptian clothes for women rather than American clothes (well at least for my size).

Even though Hassan and I are still sitting in disbelief, every minute we sit in disbelief is a minute wasted that we could be doing something constructive. We find ourselves waking up excited in the morning, and excited, but completely exhausted at night. The exhaustion is not from the physical toll on our bodies, but rather the mental and psychological stress that we put on ourselves as we attempt to process all the responsibilities we are currently puting upon ourselves.

Yesterday we went shopping and bought a lot of little things for our trip. Hassan's cousins want the Crest spin brushes, Listerine breath strips, individual packets of Splenda, and Glad bags.

I am so happy for you!! Wow first box is 40lbs??? lol So how many boxes are you planning on shipping plus what you are bringing with you when you fly? Just curious lol :)

Yeah, the Crest Spinbrush really interested my inlaws and family here. I had to stay at the inlaws for a couple of days (Mo's biopsy) and they were intriged with it...until Mo started chasing my neice around with it and scaring her lol. Just make sure you pick up a few replacement heads. So worth it and I haven't found any here (yet lol).

Salaams and lots of hugs,
Layla

Layla,

I am planning on 5 boxes but I am going to leave a lot of stuff here now. I will explain in my next post. Alhamdulillah. We each get 140 lbs.! of luggage onboard Alitalia but the luggage can only reach a certain size. It's going to work out well, I think.

Do you want some replacement heads for the spinbrush or anything? Let me know.

Deb,

I am pleased you like the blog. It is all so new to me.

I am so glad there are other women that like Egyptian clothes. I have heard in past years that Egyptian clothes for women are really awful, but that is what's so great about life we are all different and yet so much the same.

I might not have a public yard sale but am slowly selling items one by one just through conversation, at the bus stop, in passing, type of talk.

Dear Hassan,

I think we can figure our shipping with Karen's help. Thanks for posting!

Wow 140 lbs!!! That is great!! I didn't pack in boxes, just suitcases. Wish I did pack in boxes lol. But that is what my mom is for. Shipping me lots of goodies!! lol ;)

I think I am good for now on the Spinbrush heads. I know I have another packet of brushes around here somewhere lol. I will take a look tomorrow. If I can't find them where I think they are, I will let you know. Thanks so much!! You are the best!!

Salaams and lots of hugs,
Layla
